Lili has some news Posted by: Niki on 2008-06-24 at 11:04:49
Lili has something to tell you.
If you have trouble understanding her, scroll down after the video for the words.
If you know of some family members that haven't heard Lili's news, please don't tell them yourself, have them come here so Lili can tell them.
(to the tune of Auld Lang Syne):
My mommy and daddy are bringing (having) a baby
I don't know if it's a girl or a boy
But it's coming in January
More to add to the list Posted by: Niki on 2008-06-14 at 21:05:57
We have a chandelier in our front entryway, and in the afternoon the light hitting it makes rainbows on the stairs and in the front hall. The other day I was doing dishes when Austen came running in to me and saying "bobo". He grabbed my hand and took me to one of the rainbows. He was pointing at it all excited and saying bobo over and over again.
He can also say bone, boat, out (which he uses sometimes when he means open), straw and other words which I can't think of right now. Will post again when I think of them.

Lili had her dance recital yesterday. Below is the video:
Caterpillar Posted by: Niki on 2008-06-06 at 08:47:29
Our friend Julie got the kids a caterpillar when we all went to the Franklin Park Conservatory together. Lili named it Catchy. It sits in this little vial for a week and you can watch it eat and produce a waste called frass. Then it will move to the top of the vial and attach itself to the lid. It then sheds its skin for the last time and forms the chrysalis (cocoon). Once it is in the chrysalis you move it into a box where you can watch it change into a butterfly. Right now we are at the stage where it is in the box. Both kids are really into it. At least once or twice a day Lili will ask to look at the caterpillar. And this morning Austen has been spending a lot of time just staring at it.
This morning Austen said baseball. For the last 4 nights he has slept with his baseball.
jumping Posted by: Niki on 2008-06-04 at 07:58:42
2 days ago when Austen was jumping on the trampoline, he actually jumped (meaning he had both feet up in the air at the same time.)
Even more words Posted by: Niki on 2008-06-01 at 20:43:43
Today Austen pointed at his shirt and said "car." He can also say "me" and "out". He says out a lot when he means open. Like if he wants me to open something for him he will hand it to me and say "out"
Today during lunch, Austen grabbed at his diaper and said, "poo-poos". Which I thought he meant he had them in his diaper. So I took him out of his high chair and proceeded to change his diaper. When I discovered that he didn't have any poops in his diaper I asked him if he wanted to use the potty. He nodded his head so I took him to the bathroom, where he proceeded to poop on the potty.
More words Posted by: Niki on 2008-05-22 at 17:47:34
Austen can say tail and bat.
Words Posted by: Niki on 2008-05-21 at 10:27:28
Austen can say hot. He can also say "nur" which means nurse.
The other day we explained to Lili that if she hears us say a bad word she should tell us we shouldn't say it. So now she occasionally will say, "Mommy, don't say fuck it, it's not a nice word." She says it completely unprompted (meaning I didn't say the word.) It takes a lot for us to not let her see us laugh.
